Newsletter – September and October 2016

It is hard to believe. The Summer of 2016 is almost over.

SummerOver

One thinks about that when you hear the Canadian National Exhibition is coming to a close and kids are heading back to school. It has been one amazing summer for many reasons and a great year for the band to date.

As mentioned in previous newsletters the band returned in July to the Harbour Street Fish Bar in Collingwood for another fabulous night of dancing.

On Saturday, August 13th we played a two hour show in the evening at the Emerald Music Festival held on Amherst Island, south of Napanee. A 20 minute ferry ride landed us on the island and what a beautiful island it is.

Arriving at Amherst Island late afternoon we were greeted by Dan Simpson who organized the three day festival now in its sixth year and what a warm welcome it was with our own trailer to relax and change before the show, lots of food and the delicious homemade blueberry pie. This really put us in good stead for our performance at 8 p.m.

The rain didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits as the dance floor they had built was packed for two hours. An encore brought us back on stage to conclude with “How Sweet It Is”.

A huge Thank You goes out to Dan and Joan Simpson and Susan Filson, Dale Gowan and MC Gord Miller from radio station CJAI. Also, last but not least, thank you to King Sound for providing the best sound and lighting production any band could wish for.
