Sending You A Little Christmas Wish

……for all the magic
all the memories,
and all the merry of the season!

Christmas in the still of the night

The classic doo-wop ballad “In the Still of the Night” was written by the late Fred Parris who, in 1954, was the leader of a group called the Scarletts. He was also partial to a group called the Velvets. It’s not hard to see how Fred picked “Satin” as the name for the new group he formed in 1956, The Five Satins.

While on guard duty in the army at three a.m. Fred was inspired to write the group’s greatest hit “In the Still of the Night”. The record was first released on a small Connecticut label and later sold to Ember records in New York.

By the early 1960s the group had quit touring and recording and returned to their hometown New Haven, Connecticut to pursue their respective livelihoods. But in 1969 the members got back together for a rock and roll revival show at Madison Square Garden in New York.

This past January, 2022 Fred Parris passed away at the age of 85. To this day that beautiful song remains in our set list and is one of our most requested dance tunes.

Take time this winter season to embrace the stillness of a cold winter’s night.

Wishing you a warm and wonderful Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year. Silent Night… all is calm… all is bright
